Fantagraphics Bookstore & Gallery presents Michael Dormer and the Legend of Hot Curl with surf sounds by Pleasure Island. The late Michael Dormer is synonymous with the California surf counterculture in the 1960s and 1970s. The post-World War II influence of Beatnik poetry, jazz, and art interpretation around the California Coast created a revolution in the Orange County surf world, and no one defined the visual style of this movement more than Dormer. This exhibition of original work opens on Saturday, August 12 from 6:00 to 9:00 PM, with music by Pleasure Island at 7:00.
All City Coffee Machine Safari will be showing thru August. Mark Selander draws and paints on site portraits of industrial equipment. Like animals in the wild these machines make up the mega-fauna of our urban environment, each performing a functional task and part of a greater system. The result of finding, observing, and recording these machines is represented here in watercolor, pencil, and pen.

Bridge Productions is delighted to present In Time, a solo show of work by Portland artist Patrick Kelly. Patrick Kelly’s ongoing series of graphite drawings recall objects found in the natural world such as geological rock formations, hematite, or obsidian. Their layering is a laborious process of hand-drawn overlapping lines describing various jagged gestures to build up the form. The resulting drawings play with and thwart the light in a pearlescent black mass; creating the illusion of a sculptural object in relief on flat, black paper.
Oxbow Artist Dan Webb presents “The Visitor” at Oxbow in Georgetown-an evolving installation about inclusion, conversation, and relationships. This is the latest in a series of artist residencies, creating site-specific works. Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays-6/29 through 8/26. Gallery hours are 10am-5pm (Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday)

Machine House Brewery For August Art Attack, Machine House Brewery will host Shark Attack, a multi-artist, multi-media exposition centering around the most famous and infamous member of the Chondrichthyes class of aquatic chordates. Sharks have found their way into pop culture by way of tv, music, cartoons, games and fruit snacks. Shark Attack pays homage to these creatures and their exploitation. Artwork and games from 6pm-9pm with live bands from 8pm until 11pm.
Georgetown Arts and Cultural Center features “Midnight 2, this time it’s PURR sonal”This beautiful solo show is new oil paintings in lush, loose strokes of impressionistic color by Georgetown resident artist Dan Mahon. Dan has brought back his muse Jack the cat, reveling in the feline duality of majesty and pure badass, Jack and friends will rule the walls with pure attitude and allure as only cats can do. Bring your friends, dog lovers, cat lovers and the curious of heart no matter their age. Artist will be present during Art Attack.

Hoedemaker Pfeiffer LLC presents Fractured Landscapes, an exhibition program developed by Hoedemaker Pfeiffer and curated by Bridge Productions. In Fractured Landscapes, Seattle-based artists Dave Kennedy and Tim Cross find visual communion through overlapping aesthetics and a rigorous, process-based practice. Their compositions are built by layering, tiling, and kaleidoscoping forms, photographs, and blocks of color to create intricate, prismatic facsimiles of our world. The reality of these new worlds mimics our own, but reveals something surreal or previously unseen. As a result, they gather together to form an analogous and complementary duo.
Equinox Studios is a growing arts community in West Georgetown, home to over 100 artists working in an inspiring array of mediums, including dance, blacksmithing, welding, woodworking, cycle fabrication, sculpture, painting, film, glass and art performances monthly. August 12 includes the closing reception for Perceived Terrain at Coral Gallery featuring the work of Amber Barney-Nivon and Jessica Anne Cattle.
