Gina Siciliano presents I Know What I Am: The Life and Times of Artemisia Gentileschi. In her debut graphic novel, Gina Siciliano brings to life the tumultuous 17th-century cities of Rome, Florence, Naples, and Venice where the fearless Artemisia Gentileschi braved the male-dominated sphere of painting to become a groundbreaking artist. I Know What I Am paints a complex, feminist portrait of Artemisia as a single mother, a sexual assault survivor, and a pioneering practitioner of her craft. The event features an exhibition of Siciliano’s original art, sketches, research material, and related ephemera.
On view through November 5. Opening reception Saturday, October 12, 6:00 – 9:00 PM. Artist talk at 7:00 PM.

And the Language Was Beauty : New paintings and collage by Gillian Theobald
October 3 – November 16, 2019
Opening Reception Oct. 12th 6-9pm
A true master of both drawing and color, Theobald further develops her painting series, Fictive Landscapes, in this body of work titled “And the Language Was Beauty.” Her abstracted landscapes situate radiant notes of color in combinations and contrasts that invite the viewer to bask in their invigorating atmosphere. Her vivacious signature collages, made from found packaging and acrylic manipulated into a shallow bas relief space, likewise emphasize color and texture in layers that suggest a playful exploration of space. Both on view at studio e through November 16th.
