Few artists capture the dense, organic atmosphere of the forest as tactilely as Norsworthy, whose paintings exude the scent of moss and humus. Often adopting the woods themselves as her studio, Norsworthy soaks up their essence and transfers the experience to her panels. Thick layers of oil paint seem to grow from her surfaces like bark, lichen, or vegetation. Jan 3- Feb 9, 2019

The resulting works showcase the artist’s signature iconography including exquisite weeds, “big dumb boots,”, potted shrubbery, flaming wigs, floating scaffolding, and mysterious silhouetted figures achieved by digital manipulation of a hand-drawn form and shape, further reworked by traditional painting and drawing techniques.
