Ring in the New Year in Georgetown on Saturday, January 11 for our first Art Attack of 2020 featuring an amazing array of contemporary, fine art and performances of local, national, and international artists at many galleries & studios throughout the historic industrial arts district.

Bringing in the new year with a brilliant display of color in abstract form. Established in 1991 as the Mary Tudor art studio, we are one of only two Art Studios left in our building. We present a working studio and presentation space for Art Attack with Dari StolzoffFerrell, Ramona Bell, and Badieh Bryant showing images in abstraction on paper, wood and canvas. Also don’t miss Luscious Leopard Lips, our talented D.J. with a Theremin, playing atmospheric music in the background. Always changing images, we’ll see you there.

Side Rail Collective 

Presents the paper sculpture of Artist William Wang who’s work is inspired by intersect of industry and nature. This timely exhibition commences a week before the 2020 Seattle Women’s March and continues through February 29.  “The intent of ‘On Women Bound’ is to increase awareness of crimes against the female gender, be they a culture away or an incidence of domestic violence in a nearby couple’s kitchen. I understand that as an artist, I have a responsibility to use my gift to help these millions of traumatized women. John Muir Elementary, part of Seattle Public Schools, is a culturally rich school located in the Rainier Valley.  As a Title 1 school with limited resources, visual arts and our creative expressions act as a connector to address the inequities to create social change – internally and externally. With some background of the harmful effects of fast fashion, students only worked with remnants and a variety of fabrics and textiles donated by Prairie Underground.

Isaac Quigley, a Seattle-based artist whose acrylic paintings incorporate found objects, craft supplies, studio refuse, and heavy layers of collage. Though sculptural, drawing and form are essential, his process relies on an intuitive spontaneity that creates a messy and raw aesthetic. He uses materials to flesh-out a variety of landscapes and biological processes to help describe our relationship to our environment.

Join us for the official opening of Le Petite Cinema , a new film/theater/poetry space, tucked away in a shipping container in the heart of the Georgetown Trailer Park Mall.  We are kicking off with a Vintage Cartoon Bonanza projected on real, live, old school 16mm film! Starting at 6pm, the show will feature sound and silent toons, as well as both black and white and color film’s spanning several decades starting in the 1920’s! Free popcorn!

HOUSEWRIGHT   is a gallery and showroom with artifacts, art, furniture, lighting and textiles. The Elysian Taproom presents Blake Blanco ‘s paintings that are primarily of sculptures that range from iconic to spectacles of decay. Throughout this series, the artist explores ways of renewing the vitality of the sculptures, and in some instances, transforming the them into the observer. The work frequently couples with nature in a way that replicates its environment through surrealism and allegory. The Elysian Taproom is located at 5410 Airport Way S, in the North Building of our Airport Way Brewery.

studio e   Green FuseSarah Norsworthy Immerse yourself in the Pacific Northwest forest through the artwork of Sarah Norsworthy. studio e is delighted to present our first solo exhibition of Norsworthys’ paintings, ranging from expansive panels, to delicate inks on paper, to multi-panel composites grafted together. Few artists capture the dense, organic atmosphere of the forest as tactilely as Norsworthy, whose paintings exude the scent of moss and humus. Often adopting the woods themselves as her studio, Norsworthy soaks up their essence and transfers the experience to her panels. Thick layers of oil paint seem to grow from her surfaces like bark, lichen, or vegetation. Jan 3- Feb 9, 2019

David Johansson, a Seattle artist since the early 80’s has moved from his Capitol Hill location known as The Art Cave to Georgetown in the Hamilton building at 6007 12th Ave South above Via Tribunali and across the hall from The Alice Gallery. Johansson Art Gallery (JAG) is David’s working studio. The walls feature an eclectic mix of paintings in a salon style, floor to ceiling display. Many different images hanging depending on the mood and present motivations. Come on up the steps and take a look at the paintings. David looks forward to meeting the folks that make Georgetown such a sumptuous and creative enclave of Seattle.
