Georgetown Art Attack 10th Anniversary February 10!

Fantagraphics Bookstore & Gallery  presents TRUMP’S ABC, a show of original art by Ann Telnaes, the Pulitzer Prize-winning editorial cartoonist for the Washington Post. The exhibition opens on Saturday, February 10. The artist will appear to discuss her work and sign copies of her alphabet book for adults on Saturday, February 17 at 7:00 PM.

All City Coffee  Stay Sweet & Ride High! Woodcut wall hangings, ceramic pots, prints, and custom painted motorcycle helmets by Devi Ann Pellerin. This show is pure fun: Lowbrow, cartoons, 70’s illustration, vintage motorcycles and a good time!

Bridge Productions  Kat LarsonThe Lens of Lyra. In Kat Larson’s continued stories of The Ghost from Vega, we learn the ghost’s name is Lyra. In this new chapter, Lyra continues to embody messages of love and compassion as forms of contemporary activism against leaders who deplete energy from the Earth and her inhabitants. Lyra empowers humans with the quest for militant positivity, fighting the good fight through regenerative self care and honest introspection; to ultimately deepen human connections, expand consciousness,  and  commence the great healing of Earth’s spiritual crisis. 8 February – 3 March / Opening reception Saturday 10 February 6-9pm

Interstitial Mind at Large, a site-specific installation by Seattle based artists Brandon Aleson,Benjamin Van Citters, and Reilly Donovan. The exhibition takes its name from Aldous Huxley’s The Doors of Perception, in which the author argues that certain experiences disable the filter of consciousness and enlarge perception. Through virtual reality and installation, Mind at Large explores the various modes of navigating the space between the digital and physical.

Prairie Underground  presents Everyday Possibilities of Feeling Like A Totally Different Personby Dakota Gearhart. A series of new videos incorporating collage, performance, and sound that take inspiration from popular makeup tutorial videos, but turn them into surrealist narratives of face shapeshifting. An ode to femme culture, as well as, a look into identity, gender, and costuming, the videos playful speak to the presentation of self and the many forms we can inhabit simultaneously.

In a nod to the greatest of album covers and the greatest of puppetry, artists pair their favorite album with their favorite muppet… results are guaranteed to put a smile on your face. Illumination Studio # 305  presents Rostad, Dari Stolzoff and Ferrell. Rostad, explores the inner beauty of our neurological system through vibrant color and Ferrell explores spatial and color field through abstraction. Also Dari Stolzoffas abstract expression in in bright color and light. Music by “DJ” Luscious Leopard Lips, who brings background music with a Theremin synthesizer and keyboards. With new work up, you’ll be glad you came by.

 

Machine House Brewery  “Five Eyes”, a photo exhibition from Hiroyuki Nakada opens on Art Attack. In brash monochrome these photographs favor the eyes of its subjects, stubborn to capture a naked and lucid look from them. “…what I need now is to continue taking photographs. What else is there to do? By doing so, one day I will see into the human abyss.” -Hiroyuki Nakada. 32 photographs presented. Machine House is also host to post-Art AttackSoul Night from 8pm to Midnight. This month’s Soul Night will be a special Silent Disco edition, with DJ Brownstone and Little H spinning vintage Soul, R&B and 70s/80s dance music.  Come and check out our new art show and stay for the music till late!

Radio focuses on local artists and DJs, highlighting the diverse music community here in Seattle, and national and international artists. It streams on www.orphanrecords.co.uk advert and promotion free.  On February 10th, 2018, Orphan. Radio relocates to Georgetown, broadcasting out of Coral at Equinox Studios. All City Coffee July’s exhibit Machine Safari opening reception is Saturday July 8th, 6-9 pm. Mark Selander draws and paints on site portraits of industrial equipment. Like animals in the wild these machines make up the mega-fauna of our urban environment, each performing a functional task and part of a greater system. The result of finding, observing, and recording these machines is represented here in watercolor, pencil, and pen.

Bridge Productions  presents Gretchen Bennett, The Rough Draft of Everything, 6 JULY – 29 JULY. In this show of new works, Bennett holds a steady gaze on the quiet, intimate view as seen through the lens of daily life. Her work strives to capture the light at a particular angle, or a specific instance; the way one holds their breath in a moment of great anticipation.

Hammie Salon is featuring Brenda Pederson, back with a new version of her Six Photo Stories, this time based on her recent travels to Italy. Six Photo Stories combines photos and text into peek-a-boo views of cultures and places. Come by to see slices of life from Rome, Sorrento and the Amalfi Coast.

Prairie Underground presents “lumpers and splitters’, an installation of new sculptural work by Glasgow based artist Lauren Gault. Continuing her exploration into matter inhabitance, the ‘hyper object’ and working through ways to get within or behind sculpture, the artist has made a suite of new objects in the UK whilst responding to Prairie Underground as a ‘site’.  The new installation includes sculptural works made from memory, ceramics, foam carvings and Prairie Underground’s ‘garment ghosts’.

 

 

Krab Jab Studios  Illustrator Stephanie Law returns to Seattle to join us in celebrating her new body of work, “Metamorph”. Butterflies, bumblebees and forest creatures frolic and dance in ancient forests and specially designed panels that literally weave and sway across gallery walls like ribbons in the wind.

Eight and Sand  Insectarium group show is all things creepy, crawly and a little cute too. Artists created artwork incorporating their favorite or most feared insects. Participating artists, Jasmine Becket-Griffith, Dear Earthling, Jayde Hilliard, Annette Hassell, MeganWyreweden, Rachel Quinlan, Eli Wolff, Brandy Tomlin, Connie Faye, Vikram Madan, Jenny Dayton, Krissy Downing, Joseph Brooks, Chris Olson, Amanda Makepeace, Gillian Lolita, Agogo Alexiel, Abby Fields, Amanda Stalter, Rhodora Jacob, Carrie Hawks, Catherine Lindquist, and Alexandria Sandlin are local as well as national. Many artists will be in attendance for the opening including Jasmine Becket-Griffith who will be flying in from Florida to meet fans and do signings.

Illumination Studio  If you like the warmth of color then come into Illumination Studio # 305 and see S. Rostad‘s exploration of the neurological system with vibrant color and Ferrell’s other world abstraction through object and color. Also listen to “DJ” Luscious Leopard Lips as he accompanies musical selections with his own keyboard and Theremin with the possible addition of a visiting artist also. Always changing in presentation you’ll be glad you stopped by.

Machine House Brewery  is exhibiting Green River Gorge, The Power of Place Experience the Green-Duwamish like never before. Local conservationist and adventurer, Lisa Parsons, hiked, bush-wacked, swam, and kayaked the entire 12 mile long Green River Gorge last summer to document this incredible riverscape. Now she brings her images and stories to communities along the entire Green-Duwamish.

Studio e presents Treasure Island: Beyond and Back and More, June 23rd-August 12th 2017 – Artist Reception: Saturday, July 1st 6-9pm 
New work by Alfred Harris, Ken Kelly, and Jeffry Mitchell. Three visually diverse artists with a shared sensibility that includes playfulness, craftsmanship and 30 years of friendship. For over 25 years these three artists have been inspired, influenced and humbled by each other. The ties that bind them, and their art, come from this long and deep experience with each other-this goes directly to the heart of what they have in common: a commitment to the long view, the slow gaze, and the lifelong search for what we call Treasure Island.

Status Ceramics  invites you to visit their studio!  Status hand-makes one of a kind ceramic tile designed by local Seattle artists. Their tile is hand pressed and glazed to order in their Georgetown studio and they are excited to share what they do. Stop by for unique gift tiles (exclusively offered during Art Attack only!), insight into their tile making process, or just to say hi. Open to the public  from 6-9 during the Georgetown Art Attack.

Coral Gallery located in Equinox Studios presents Perceived Terrain Amber Barney-Nivón and Jessica Anne Cattle’s new body of collaborative work. aims to go beyond the traditional “landscape”displaying perceived, deconstructed and abstracted versions of terrain. Nature’s repeating shapes, patterns, and texture come to the forefront creating an experience that is uniquely theirs through painting, drawing, and sculpting. Through rearranged aspects of nature, like unit cells of crystals or the vein-like terrain of mountains and forests, embodying their experiences, evoking  deep connections with nature. Opening Reception on July 8th 6.00-9.00 PM.

Praxis Arts is thrilled to showcase local artist Alexander Halladay for the month of July 2017. Along side Alexander are 7 of our wonderful in house artists. Come in from the sun for some refreshments, drinks and over 500 captivating original pieces of art.

Tim Cross_Land and Sea

HOEDEMAKER PFEIFFER LLC  is exhibiting Fractured LandscapesIn Fractured Landscapes, Seattle-based artists Dave Kennedy and Tim Cross find visual communion through overlapping aesthetics and a rigorous, process-based practice. Their compositions are built by layering, tiling, and kaleidoscoping forms, photographs, and blocks of color to create intricate, prismatic facsimiles of our world. The reality of these new worlds mimics our own, but reveals something surreal or previously unseen. As a result, they gather together to form an analogous and complementary duo.
