Eartha

Fantagraphics Bookstore & Gallery  Eartha is Cathy Malkasian‘s fourth graphic novel – a metaphorical fable that resonates with contemporary themes. Malkasian’s drawing is notable for its rigorous draftsmanship, stunning landscapes and depictions of nature, the gestural nuances of her characters, and her sophisticated storytelling, all of which are on display in Eartha, making this the author’s lushest and most impressive graphic novel yet. Meet this exceptional artist on her first visit to Seattle during Art Attack on Saturday, May 13, 6-9pm.

All City Coffee presents  Atlantic/Pacific, by Lowell Poisson. This show is a compilation of  works that were begun while on the East Coast in response to his connection with his home in the Pacific Northwest and completed upon moving back to the Pacific Northwest. These works are constructed with in response to chaos/order and the natural world using the mediums of stone lithography and drawing.

Garek Druss

Bridge Productions  is excited to present artist and composer Garek Druss‘, Immensity With Horizon. Ethereal and meditative abstract video projections, dynamic sound design, two-dimensional watercolor drawings, and three-dimensional paper sculptures.  Garek Druss is a Seattle-based sound and visual artist who creates work that explores the balance between the physical being and the incorporeal or non-being. 11 May – 3 June 2017. Opening reception May 13.

JanetWilson at the HammieSalon

Hammie Salon Meet landscape artist, Janet Wilson, during May’s Art Attack. Janet’s medium is oil on canvas, and landscapes are her primary subject matter. Most of her paintings begin from a photo where she’s captured a scene with good composition, lighting, and elements that look interesting for a painting, and to which she feels an emotional connection. This solo exhibit will feature a broad selection of her work.

Oxbow   Michelle de la Vega‘s The Sugar Project is an exciting exhibition of visual art, video, spoken word and community generated art installation produced through a partnership between curators Sharon Arnold at Bridge Productions and Gabe Kean at Oxbow Installation Gallery in Seattle’s Georgetown neighborhood. The Sugar Project is large-scale social engagement and art installation project that passionately delves into the culture of commodification and women. The core of the project builds on the paradigm that for the majority of recorded human history women have been considered as property. Open Saturday, May 13, 6-9pm.

Eight and Sand  This month is a dual artist feature of Annette Hassell of Los Angeles, and Chris J.Olson of Seattle. Both will be showing all new artwork in their chosen themes. Annette has the Seven Deadly Sins with primates in traditional pop surrealist style. Chris will be showing The Enigma Of The UFO in a fitting contemporary minimalist style.

Illumination Studio  If you like the warmth of color then come into Illumination Studio # 305 and see S. Rostad‘s exploration of the neurological system with vibrant color and Ferrell’s other world abstraction through object and color. Also listen to “DJ” Luscious Leopard Lips as he accompanies musical selections with his own keyboard and Theremin with the possible addition of a visiting artist also. Always changing in presentation you’ll be glad you stopped by.

Georgetown Trailer Park Mall  is proud to present NAUTICULT, a Seattle based experimental, psychedelic hip hop trio, joined by REMEMBER FACE and ANCIENT MARINER, bringing Hip hop to Georgetown on Saturday,  May 13 during Art Attack.  This is an event not to be missed if you have always dreamed of moshing in a parking lot surrounded by vintage treasures.

studio e  Pulp, Robert Hardgrave‘s new solo show, situates his signpost transfers in a dialogue with his new format, gouache on used and pulped Xerox paper. In what he calls his “total act of recycling,” Hardgrave exposes his visual language to a novel medium, which both pushes its limits, and grants new dimensions to his stable repertoire of forms, shapes, and color. Opening reception May 13th6-9pm.

2016 Cirrus Embers Hoop Act

 

Equinox Studios  SANCA‘s youth performance troupes Cirrus Circus and the Magnificent 7 will be busking at Equinox Studios during the Saturday, May 13th Georgetown Art Attack from 6 – 9pm. Their efforts will raise travel funds for members of the youth troupe to attend the Youth Circus Festival hosted in August by the American Youth Circus Organization on the East Coast.

Georgetown Music presents Acoustic Armageddon #35 featuring music by the best regional artists from 6-9 pm. All ages. Free.

The Georgetown Liquor Company  is featuring the Art of Eli Wolff for May & June. Pop culture mash-ups & whimsical geekery!

Praxis Arts  invites you to enjoy immersive art, wine, sounds & thought provoking conversation featuring Amidst Perspective, new works by Sienna Dawn. studio e  Stephanie Buer, Jon Dove, Ann Duffy, Molly Magai, and Karen Woods examine the American experience of vast-spreading urbanization and car culture in “Urban/Suburban Memories”.  They rediscover slices of reality that either escape our attention, or become lodged in our subconscious due to their quotidian nature. The overall lack of human presence orchestrates the sensation of estrangement and alienation these artists unanimously capture in their work.

Equinox Studios  is a growing arts community in West Georgetown, home to over 100 artists working in an inspiring array of mediums, including dance, blacksmithing, welding, woodworking, cycle fabrication, sculpture, painting, film, glass and art performances monthly.
