Bridge Productions  This February, Bridge is pleased to introduce Seattle painter, print-maker, and multimedia artist Sue Danielson PERMEABILITY OF HARDNESS. Danielson’s work describes a critical, devoted attention to an accumulation of tangled line and amassed form, built from layers of paint and mixed media. Oftentimes the work resembles geographical topography data or a city map, thwarting our sense of scale; or a cryptic visual cipher in which we seek to resolve some recognizable object. Danielson’s newest body of work on paper and panel continues her exploration of maplike forms and treatise on memory and mark-making.

The Machine House Brewery  will be showing New Works from Ross Brashear, a selection of portraits on paper in pastel, ink, and watercolor.

Krab Jab Studios  exhibit “Angels, Totems & Revelations” features the work of fantastical realists Carrie AnnBaade, Liba W Stambollion and Patrick McGrath Muniz. This wonderful show explores both personal truths and social justice. Artists will be in attendance during Art Attack.

Eight and Sand  has a dual feature of Maxx Follis and Alexandria Sandlin. Maxx is presenting a body of powerful portraits of people not typically represented in contemporary art, and brings them to life with bright colors and simple geometric backgrounds. Alex is presenting a group of small gouache works depicting moments of grief and mourning in a limited palette.

Georgetown Arts and Cultural Center is exhibiting “The Struggle is Real”, A  photographic series by Josh Mojica, sponsored by  Inside Out Project. This powerful and raw series of portraits of refugees, documents the struggles and strength of their daily lives in the face of dislocation, fear of death and endangerment. Josh is now on his sixth mission to Greece and points beyond to help families and individuals who are struggling to find home and some sense of place in an in between place known as a refugee camp.

El Sirenito presents Donal Murphy, an Ireland born graphic artist who will be featuring his work from The Alphabet series. This sci-fi narrative with an environmental slant, imagines forms which temporarily materialize in the air. In his own words, these elaborate characters are “being presented to us by our own environment in an attempt to communicate”.

Illumination Studio  Would you like to see and feel the warmth of color? Come in to Illumination Studio #305, presenting Rostad and Rostad, explores the inner beauty of our neurological system through abstraction and vibrant color and Ferrell explores spatial and color field through abstraction and planes of color. Music by “DJ” Luscious Leopard Lips, who brings background music with a Theremin synthesizer and keyboards.

The Hammie Salon exhibit Water & Light — A celebration of light, color and texture, new work by Deb McCarroll including limited-edition printed salmon and textured works bursting with color and light opens on Saturday November 12 for Art Attack. McCarroll’s love for natural processes is on display in her layered paintings of Northwest-themed birds, fish and moody umbrellas. “I love materials that show age and history.   • Fantagraphics Bookstore & Gallery  is presenting a tribute to late Italian cartoonist Guido Crepax, featuring original art by contemporary cartoonists including David Lasky, Peter Kuper, Benjamin Marra, Roberta Gregory, George Pratt, Mark Wheatley, and more. The exhibition will also include reproductions from the Complete Crepax Volume 1 with a limited edition companion publication and other exclusive Crepax merchandise, translated into English for the first time.

  • Bridge Productions  is pleased to feature anamnesis, Ashleigh Rose Robb‘s, first solo exhibition in Seattle. Using markmaking as a gesture to record the passage of time, Ashleigh Robb’s compositions are the accumulation of simple lines and marks to build up form. The process of marking time varies, and as such, the materials used to do so are ever changing. Each line is a faint documentation which only appears up close, fading into white as you step further away, a haunting, philosophical body of work that carries forward its Minimalist lineage.

  • Praxis Arts is pleased to showcase Leo Shallat. Leo Shallat is a visual artist born and raised in Seattle, Washington. Leo’s artistic practice draws inspiration from the culture of calligraphy and form line design as well as abstract painting. His work deconstructs letter forms to their bare elements, re-composing them to create abstract compositions that reflect an intuitive language of movement and flow.

Let your spring fling art adventure begin on 12th Ave. S. where Georgetown Art Attack is pleased to welcome back curator Sharon Arnold with Bridge Productions, introduce the newest member to our arts community, Ryan Blythe of Rainier Glass Studio and host Academy Award nominee, Daniel Clowes, premiering his latest book at Fantagraphics Bookstore and Gallery!

  • Fantagraphics Bookstore & Gallery is pleased to present Daniel Clowes. The Academy Award nominee (Best Screenplay for Ghost World) returns to debut his latest graphic novel, Patience, which represents his most ambitious work to date. Also on display will be original art from the international comix anthology Red Eye.

  • Bridge Productions returns to Georgetown with TECTONIC, a group exhibition highlighting our 2016 lineup of guest and represented artists: Julie Alpert, Tim Cross, Sue Danielson, Emily Gherard, Davida Ingram, Dave Kennedy, Kat Larson, Ashleigh Robb, and Krista Svalbonas. Each of these artists are connected through overlapping aesthetics and rigorous, process-based practice. Their narratives address ideas about location, dislocation, identity, repetition, and time. As a result, they gather naturally to form a distinctive group with a broad spectrum of styles and perspectives.

  • The Alice is exhibiting I Wasn’t Just Saying What You Wanted To Hear… is an immersive video, sound exhibition that stages a conversation between five single-channel video artworks of Katherine Behar, Constance DeJong, Ellie Krakow, Jaeeun Lee and These works invent and occupy a charged psychological universe in its own distinctly metered sense of time. Presented simultaneously in a one-room exhibition, this show creates a unique opportunity to tease additional interpretations, contexts and contingencies out of already resolved narrative forms.

  • Interstitial is featuring  last_resort, the art of Mario Lemafa. last_resort sees Mario Lemafa investigating themes of erasure, whiteness, colonization and the physical/metaphorical qualities of cleansing through an indigenous digital Dasein (felt presence). Brutal and tender, the exhibition poses the question of whether or not the death of inequality would render vacations obsolete. Envisioning tropical locals as utopian space, last_resort generates new visual elements towards a radical, futuristic redefinition of the travel lifestyle.
  • All City Coffee will be hosting “For your viewing pleasure”, the private art collection of Steve Withycombe. Steve’s collection is mostly from Seattle based artist from the last 15 years. None of the work will be for sale, just for your viewing pleasure.

Whether the tree is mystical, nurturing, menacing, rendered in watercolor, oil paint or sculpture, they delight our imaginations.
  • Mainframe Shop  NO SÉ: new works of emerging artist, Gabriel Marquez closing exhibit of large scale mixed media based artworks will be held 6 -9 pm on Saturday, March 12 during Art Attack. No Sé explores the ideas and values of place as regional, social, and temporal, cultural identity, and the nature of visual language as a potential contradiction of artistic practice.

  • Eight and Sand is featuring a group show of art in miniature form. The artists have created works 7 inches and smaller and each artist invited a guest artist to participate in this stunning display of tiny. A complete artist list will be available during Art Attack.

Come see the handmade, up-cycled, and reused products all while hanging in a special, unique little corner of the world!   • Georgetown Arts and Cultural Center feature for March Art Attack includes the  Gallery 21. Help celebrate the grand opening of a new gallery space and works from the first ever resident artist, Una Dunphy from Cork, Ireland. “The Camino 15” portrait paintings are based on the experiences and individuals Una met on a 42 day pilgrimage thru the Camino de Santiago in Spain.  Artist talk will be held at 7:30 during Art Attack.

  • Illumination Studio presents Rostad and Ferrell. Rostad explores the inner beauty of our neurological system through abstraction and vibrant color and Ferrell exploring space and color field through abstraction and vibrant color. Also, music by Luscious Leopard Lips, the Georgetown atmospheric music DJ with a Theremin synthesizer.
  • Zippy’s “The Art of Eli Wolff” -an exhibit of acrylic paintings by local artist, Eli Wolff continues thru March. Eli Wolff, a Seattle native makes art designed to get people to laugh. His fondness for cartoons, sci-fi and fantasy book covers, 70s movie posters, and all kinds of pop-culture that creep into his work with visual puns and geeky mash-ups.
